    * Ratio gives Number of planted areas per prevented acre. Prevented acres are acres of land which are prevented from planting due to weather/natural disasters. 0's indicate that a location had planted acres, but no prevented acres. Click for more details on national median.

    General Notes: *Median value gives the value for the "average" county for this metric, the 50th percentile of all counties with planted acres. A national median of "0" indicates that more than half of the counties with planted acres did not have any prevented acres. **Ratios calculated by SAGE using Total Planted Acres and Prevented Acres data series. Counties with no planted acres are omitted. A lower ratio number indicates that a county had a higher percentage of acres "lost" to natural disaster. A higher ratio number indicates that a county had a lower percentage of acres "lost" to natural disaster.
