General Notes: *Median value gives the value for the "average" county for this metric, the 50th percentile of all counties reporting data. **Linked birth/death rate expressed as the number of deaths reported each calendar year per births. The default factor is per 1,000 population, reporting the death rate per 1,000 births. A pound symbol (#) indicates that the deaths or births are suppressed when the value represents 0-9. An exclamation mark (!) indicates rates with fewer than 20 deaths in the numerator and therefore does not meet the NCHS standard of reliability or precision. Figures marked "Missing" in the CDC downloads are not included on SAGE Stats because the county did not meet minimum population standards - data for the county was recoded to the Unidentified Counties category for the state of the county.
