    General Notes: **Counties with a "1" are designated as a Farming Dependent County. For 2015 data, a "1" indicates that farming accounted for at 25% or more of the county's earnings or 16% or more of the employment averaged over 2010-2012. For year 2004 data, counties where either 15 percent or more of average annual labor and proprietors' earnings derived from farming during 1998-2000 or 15 percent or more of employed residents worked in farm occupations in 2000. For years prior to 2004, the ERS only classified nonmetro counties by their economic specialization and policy-relevant type. For year 1989 data, farming contributed a weighted annual average of 20 percent of more labor and proprietor income over the three years from 1987 to 1989. For 1979 and 1986 data, nonmetro county for which farming contributed a weighted average of 20 percent or more to total labor and proprietor income for the previous 5 years
