    General Notes: **Counties with a "1" are designated as aRetirement Destination County. For 2015 data, a "1" indicates a county's number of resident 60 and older grew by 15 percent or more between 2000 and 2010. For year 2004 data, counties where the number of residents 60 and older grew by 15 percent or more between 1990 and 2000 due to immigration. For years prior to 2004, the ERS only classified nonmetro counties by their economic specialization and policy-relevant type. For year 1990 data, the population aged 0 years and over in 1990 increased by 15 percent or more from the 1980-90 through in-movement of people. For 1979 data, nonmetro county with 15 percent or more net immigration of people aged 60+ from 1970 to 1980.
